Back in 2016, I asked a bunch of folks if they washed their hands after going to the loo. The results were quite interesting – 73% said “Yes” (psss. that’s the right answer) while the rest distributed amongst the variety of excuses I’ve allowed.
And now.. Corona!
Now with COVID-19 (a.k.a corona-virus disease) on the loose, are people really taking care to wash their hands better? Short answer – yes!
Great news everyone – self reported hand washers are up 20%! The excuse with the sharpest decline is “Not if I’m in a rush” (down 67%). I’m glad to see folks realize that time is not important, only life important.
The excuse with the least decline is ‘Only if “the situation requires”‘ (down 40%). I’m still trying to figure out what this one actually means.
You must wonder who are these “new washers”, and what have they been doing beforehand. On thing I can tell you is that men are pushing hard on the hand washing trend with 30% increase in hand washing from 2016.
Also, the youth. They are most educated to know that in normal dyas hand washing is actually bad for you (due to the world being flat and all) – but they really came around! Hand washing among young audience shows a staggering 56% uplift. Amazing!
In summary, saving lives is literally in your hands.
